Re: Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2018 - Jun. 12 - 14

EA kicked off the lineup of Press Conferences on Saturday, Jun 9. They were going into this year's E3 with mixed anticipation. On one hand, huge titles like Anthem and Battlefield were on the horizon, but on the other, the mixed fan reception of Andromeda, and the huge backlash from Star Wars Battlefront 2, had fans at the doors with pitchforks.

Despite the dichotomy, here are the 10 game showings they brought to the event:

The show started with a montage of some of EAs biggest IPs. Then went right into a 3D showing of Anthem, and Andrea Rene kicking off the intro.

Battlefield V: Even though we saw the sneak-peak from Trevor Noah last month, even more was shown here at E3. Two presenters came to the stage, Oskar Gabrielson and Lars Gustavsson, to present the "distraction system" and the destructible environments as well as some Multiplayer goodness. Customized vehicles and weapons. No loot boxes, and no premium passes! Also, Battle Royale was introduced.

Nordly's War Story is promised to be seen tomorrow at Microsoft's Xbox conference.

Battlefield V will be available for all players on October 19, but those who subscribe to EA/Origin Access and pre-order will be able to play early on October 11.

phpBB [video]

FIFA 19: The show then went right into some Portuguese goodness, with FIFA 19. This was followed by a dramatic reveal of the UEFA trophy and Aaron Mchardy Lina Ingvarsdottir announcing the UEFA Champions League. For the first time in over 10 years, EA has hold of the official Champions League license for use in its FIFA franchise - which is pretty huge (considering Konami only just lost it for the PES series).

The game is coming to PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, PS3, and Xbox 360 on September 28. You'll receive three days of early access--starting on September 25--if you pre-order the Champions Edition.

They also announced a Free Trial of FIFA 18 for free for a limited time.

phpBB [video]

Andrew Wilson then came out for another welcome the audience once again to EA Play, and chat about the Origin Access Premier (launching later this Summer) which brings all heavy hitters, plus about 100 legacy titles to this new subscription streaming service. It'll particularly bring all-new PC games to players. Among those specifically singled out during the press conference were FIFA 19, BioWare's new IP, Anthem, and Madden NFL 19, which will mark the series' return to PC for the first time in more than a decade.

phpBB [video]

Star Wars - Jedi Fallen Order: Vince Zampella from Respawn was in the audience and, when talking to Andrea, announced the upcoming Star Wars game. The title was revealed as "Jedi Fallen Order" and takes place between Episodes III and IV and is scheduled to release Holiday 2019.

phpBB [video]

Star Wars: Battlefront II: She then tossed it over Dennis Brannvall (the Design Director for Battlefront II). He addressed the elephant in the room (the micro-transactions) and then spoke to some of the additions they added (Han Solo, Ewok Hunt, etc..). He also announced that a new squad system, dogfighting mode and new multiplayer mode will be released later this Summer. Then he talked about the Clone Wars being introduced to the game later this year - specifically General Grievous, Obi Wan Kenobi, Count Dooku and Anakin Skywalker.

phpBB [video]

Unravel Two: Then a trailer showed Unraveled 2. Martin Sahlin comes on stage to talk about the theme of the game, based around 2 souls that build something beautiful together. As with the first game, Unravel 2 focuses on the adventures of Yarny, a small, woolen toy. Developer Coldwood says the sequel will be a more upbeat affair than the original, with a slight shift away from puzzler and towards the platformer end of the spectrum. Yarny is more agile than before, and this is emphasized in some of the story mode's trickier sections. It strives to allow a multiplayer experience that can be played by a single player. The gameplay footage shared more insight into this, and there's no denying that the game looks amazing from an art perspective.

phpBB [video]

phpBB [video]

Once the trailers finished, Patrick Soderlund came out to announce the game is releasing....TODAY! Then he went on to talk about EA Originals, and the success of A Way Out. Then he introduced Cornelia Geppert, creative director at Jo-Mei. She introduced the next game:

Sea of Solitude: When humans get lonely they turn into monsters. This is the theme they want you to see, hear and feel as you play the game. You play as a young, lonely woman who turns to the outside and becomes a monster herself. Cornelia then gives way to the trailer, which has some more beautiful art.

phpBB [video]

NBA Live 19: The Sea of Solitude trailer, then led right into NBA Live 19 which revealed some new features like dances, emotes, player customization, and a bunch of fresh kicks. This feeds into the return of the player creator and single-player story mode called The One. NBA Live 19 is set to launch on September 7 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

phpBB [video]

Madden 19: Young Kiv (Madden 18 champion) and Juju Smith-Schuster (wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers) came on stage to chat about Young Kiv's ups and downs as a competitive EA tournament goer. Then this was followed by the Madden 19 trailer.

phpBB [video]

Command & Conquer - Rivals: Michael Martinez and Nathanias came onstage to present a new mobile game (Android and iOS), with a winner-take-all head to head. It's an RTS-style game, where two teams fight to control a central missile which, when the timer runs out, destroys the other team's base. Two big-name competitors, iNcontroL and nickatnyte) come out on stage to play head-to-head. At the end, it was revealed to be Command & Conquer. This was followed by a trailer for the game.

phpBB [video]

phpBB [video]

Andrew Wilson comes out to chat about 3 charities that EA has supported with the help of their fans. These included "He For She", "National Bullying Prevention Center" and "Ditch the Label". This was welcomed with some friendly cheers from the crowd and then transitioned right into Anthem.

Anthem: Started off with a CG trailer, then went back to Andrea on stage who had some interview chairs set up for some key BioWare players. This included Casey Hudson (General Manager), Mark Darrah (Executive Producer), Cathleen Rootsaert (Lead Writer). They talked about how they approached creating new IPs. Then they dove into some more gameplay details, specifically around the suits and the co-op features. Casey Hudson announced a release date of February 22, 2019 for Xbox, PlayStation and PC.

Re: Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2018 - Jun. 12 - 14

Sunday started with a whole lot of hype for the Microsoft Press Conference. We knew about the delayed Crackdown, but rumors were circulating around that Fable, Halo and Cyberpunk were going to be making an appearance.

Lots to be excited about, and lots still up in the air. So without further ado, here's the breakdown of the show:

Halo: Infinite - The show started off with a game-engine demonstration for Halo Infinite. This was done using the slip-space engine. The audience naturally went crazy.

phpBB [video]

Phil Spencer then came out to kick-off the show and spoke to Microsoft's belief in the gaming art form. He also prepped us for what would be ~50 games; 18 exclusives and 15 world premieres. This was applauded, and he then kicked it off to a fan-favourite.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps - The trailer showcased some of the usual incredible music, gameplay and art style that we've come to expect from an Ori game. We've already seen this game, but it's always fantastic to see more.

phpBB [video]

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - The show then jumped right into the world premiere of From Software's samurai-esque game called Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Some beautiful takes on feudal fantasy. It's being published by Activision.

phpBB [video]

Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 - After this, Todd Howard (from Bethesda) graced the stage to lots of applause. He announced Fallout 4 on Xbox Game Pass starting today - Bethesda's usual shadowdrop antics. As well, he offered a world premiere look at Fallout 76. He revealed that the game was 4 times the size of Fallout 4, and takes place in West Virginia in a very different wasteland from what we know (from the games that take place a few hundred years later). It will also be available on Game Pass at launch.

phpBB [video]

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit - Then another trailer for a game that takes place in the Life Is Strange universe. And adventure game that follows a little boy with a wild imagination.

phpBB [video]

Crackdown 3 - Captain Spirit was immediately followed by Crackdown 3 with some over-the-top narration from everyone's favourite, Terry Crews.

phpBB [video]

NieR: Automata (Become As Gods Edition) - Then a trailer showing NieR: Automata coming to Xbox One was shown.

phpBB [video]

Metro Exodus - A trailer showed Metro Exodus (which we've known about for a while). A bit of story and gameplay made for a good sized trailer.

phpBB [video]

Kingdom Hearts III - After the 7 back-to-back games, Phil Spencer returned to announce Kingdom Hearts III coming to Xbox. This was followed by a very Pixar-heavy trailer, specifically showcasing Frozen.

phpBB [video]

Sea of Thieves: Cursed Sails / Sea of Thieves: Forsaken Shores - A small story trailer of the upcoming DLC for Sea of Thieves called Cursed Sails (July) and Sea of Thieves: Forsaken Shores (August).

phpBB [video]

Battlefield V - Announcement that they are taking Battlefield V to Scandinavia. This was the teaser announced in yesterday's EAPLAY conference.

phpBB [video]

Forza Horizon 4 - The reveal trailer for Horizon 4 kicked off the Forza presentation, followed by an on-stage competition with some demonstrations of the dynamic seasons and the quickchat feature, hosted by Ralph Fulton (creative director at Playground Games). A release date of October 2, 2018 was announced with a Game Pass release.

phpBB [video]

Phil Spencer then came back on stage with some big announcements. First a new Santa Monica Microsoft studio known as The Initiative has been created. This was followed by the acquisition of four more studios to their portfolio: Undead Labs, Playground Games, Ninja Theory and Compulsion Games.

We Happy Few - With news of Compulsion Games being acquired by Microsoft, they went right into another story trailer of We Happy Few. This Kickstarter original garnered some huge acclaim at last year's E3, so the crowd was incredibly happy to hear a release date of Aug. 10, 2018. Interesting, considering this game was originally slated as a PS4 release.

phpBB [video]

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds - The next exclusive shown was a trailer for War Mode in PlayerUnkown's Battlegrounds coming to Xbox One in Winter 2018. Though the outhouse in the trailer showed Summer 2018.

phpBB [video]

Tales of Vesperia - Definitive Edition - The next trailer was a definitive edition of Tales of Vesperia, but no mention of exclusivity. The release is scheduled for this Winter.

phpBB [video]

Tom Clancy's The Division 2 - A world premiere of The Division 2 was next on the list. This was followed by a hefty amount of (incredibly tame) multiplayer co-op - showcasing recon work in the Smithsonian’s National Zoo.

phpBB [video]

Ashley Speicher (Head of Engineering for Xbox Game Pass) graced the stage. She spoke to some of the improvements happening with Xbox Game Pass, and assurance that many of the heavy-hitting releases will be playable on release-date. She also announced that The Division, The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, and Fallout 4 are all playable 'today' with Game Pass. This then went onto a quick montage of some of the games you can find on Game Pass.

Game Pass Games - Outer Wilds, Afterparty, Kingdom: Two Crowns, The Golf Club 2019, Warhammer Vermintide, Fringe Wars, Below, Conqueror's Blade, Waking, Raji: An Ancient Epic, Super Meatboy Forever, Planet Alpha, Islands of Nyne (Battle Royale), Sable, Harold Halibut, Bomber Crew, Children of Morta, The Wind Road, WarGroove, Generation Zero, Dead Cells and Ashen.

phpBB [video]

Shadow of the Tomb Raider - A story trailer of Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

phpBB [video]

Session - The next exclusive was from a company called "creā-ture studios" - a skateboarding game called Session.

phpBB [video]

Black Desert - Another exclusive trailer followed this. Pearl Abyss is bringing the popular MMORPG, Black Desert, to the Xbox One.

phpBB [video]

Devil May Cry 5 - The world premiere of Devil May Cry 5 scheduled in Spring 2009. Matt Walker and Hideaki Itsuno (Director, DMC5) came to the stage.

phpBB [video]

Cuphead "The Delicious Last Course" - New DLC for Cuphead including new characters and bosses.

phpBB [video]

Tunic - Another fox hero! Not Super Lucky's Tale. Not Miles "Tails" Prower. It's "Tunic"!

phpBB [video]

Phil Spencer then came out to build up the anticipation for the upcoming world premiers of some pretty big titles. This was then followed by some big trailers.

Jump Force - First off was Jump Force from Bandai Namco. Built off the Shonen Jump phenomenon in Japan, Jump Force mashes up your favourite anime characters in an all-out brawl including Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, One Piece and Deathnote (among others).

phpBB [video]

Dying Light 2 - A gameplay trailer of Dying Light 2 followed by Chris Avellone (Narrative Designer, Techland) coming out on stage to explain the game. He explained that choices made in the game will change the world, and have consequences. For example, providing water to the public may help people, but faction will use it as currency. You can choose to help the people, or join with the factions. There are hundreds of choices to be made.

phpBB [video]

Battletoads - A surprise reveal of Battletoads, with a release of 2019.

phpBB [video]

Just Cause 4 - A story trailer of Square Enix and Avalanche Studios' Just Cause 4. This followed the screens that were leaked earlier today.

phpBB [video]

Gears Pop! - Next was an odd one. Joining with Funko's Pop! Vinyl lineup, we get...Gears Pop! This opens the doors to A LOT of Pop games...likely a movie....and a whole slew of merchandise to keep the wallets empty.

phpBB [video]

Gears of War 5 - Rod Fergusson (The Coalition Studio) came out to announce Gears of War Tactics and Gears of War 5 with a big trailer.

phpBB [video]

Phil Spencer closed off the show with one last world premiere surprise.

Cyberpunk 2077 - A trailer for Cyberpunk 2017.

Re: Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2018 - Jun. 12 - 14

Post by Round2Gaming » Mon Jun 11, 2018 1:21 am

Next up was Bethesda's press conference. Seemed odd going into a conference already having already heard so much about what was on the docket - Rage 2, Fallout 76, Fallout 4 on Game Pass - what more would Bethesda be offering?

Well, here's what happened:

The show started with a bit of a dive into Bethesda Softworks staff; a montage of the different daily lives that each of them has. This was immediately followed by a quick play-reel of some of their biggest games.

Then Pete Hines (Global Senior VP, Bethesda) returned to the stage for another E3 showcase. He recapped 2017 - Prey, Dishonored, Evil Within II, Wolfenstein II and updates to Elder Scrolls: Online and VR functionality for Fallout, Skyrim and Doom; as well as their acclaimed "Top Publisher of the Year" award.

Rage 2 - He then went on to introduce Rage 2 with the help of Andrew W.K. onstage singing his 2001 hit, Ready To Die.

After the performance, Tim Willits (Studio Director, Id Software) and Magnus Nedfors (Game Director, Avalanche Studios) graced the stage. They explained you play as Walker, the last ranger of the wasteland. Rather than getting into the details, they threw it over to a story trailer. This then transitioned into a gameplay trailer, showcasing that "if you can see it, you can drive it" and a "seamless open world". The combat and abilities were shown as well, and overall looked pretty smooth. The release window was set to Spring 2019 (hopefully with a collector's edition).

phpBB [video]

The Elder Scrolls: Legends - After the trailer, Christian Van Hoose (Community Manager, The Elder Scrolls Legends) came to the stage to announce Bethesda's free-to-play collectible card game's overhauled graphics and it's playability on Mobile, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PS4. This was followed by a quick trailer.

phpBB [video]

The Elder Scrolls: Online - Following Christian, Matt Firor (Game Director, The Elder Scrolls: Online) came to the stage to thank the team at Zenimax. He rattled off some numbers and accolades - specifically around the success of Morrowind and Summerset. The next dungeon DLC will be called Wolfhunter, and is centered on werewolves. They'll also be going back to Blackmarsh, with the Murkmire story DLC later this year. Good news for those looking to dive deeper into Argonian lore.

phpBB [video]

Doom Eternal - This transitioned right into a trailer for Doom Eternal, with some very clear 'hell-on-earth' imagery. Two team members, Hugo Martin (Creative Director, Doom Eternal) and Marty Stratton (Executive Producer, Doom Eternal) came onto the stage to announce the sequel to the critically acclaimed Doom. More details will be made available once it debuts at QuakeCon 2018 this August.

phpBB [video]

Quake Champions - Joshua Boyle (Community Manager, Quake Champions) followed up on stage, with more details on Quake Champions. For this week only, Quake Champions will be free-to-play for everyone - and access will continue beyond. He wrapped up with a trailer showcasing Snorlag, Keel, Slash, and Visor.

phpBB [video]

Prey and Mooncrash DLC - Prey was next. Susan Kath (Production Director) and Ricardo Bare (Lead Designer) appeared on screen with some thank you's and announcements. 3 new modes - Story Mode, New Game + and Survival Mode - are available starting tonight. They also started to give some details on the new DLC, Mooncrash, with new hazards, enemies and loot with every playthrough - but this was interrupted, and transitioned into a trailer for Mooncrash. Both presenters graced the stage. They then revealed a new 1v5 mode coming this summer called Typhon Hunter.

phpBB [video]

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and Youngblood DLC - Jens Mathias (Creative Director, Machine Games) and Jerk Gustaffson (Executive Producer, Machine Games) then came on stage with some more thank you's. Then they gave a June 29, 2018 date for Wolf 2 on the Switch and some new DLC - Youngblood - which centers around BJ's twin daughters and takes place in 1980's Paris. This means co-op (or solo if you want)!

phpBB [video]

Pete Hines returned to the stage after the trailer to chat about VR for Prey: Typhon Hunter and Wolfenstein Cyberpilot (where you can turn Nazi war machines against their masters).

Skyrim: Very Special Edition - The moment everyone was waiting for arrived, with the introduction of Todd Howard (Game Director, Bethesda). He then gave some funny analogies for how E3 has evolved since its mid-90's inception. He then went on to announce.....Skyrim: Very Special Edition.

phpBB [video]

Fallout 76 - Joking aside, Todd then showcased some real Fallout 76 details. The timeline (2079) was chosen to celebrate America's 300th Anniversary (Reclamation Day). We started off with a trailer, then got some gameplay footage. He then went onto reveal that the game is entirely in a serverless, online environment - with every character being a real person. He also confirmed - you can play the game solo.

Some of the showcased features were West Virginia folklore translated into the wasteland, the construction engine being usable (and transportable) anywhere on the map, a photo-mode, and multiple nuclear missile sites on the map, and let players do whatever they want with them. The special edition was showcased with some awesome swag, and a release date of Nov. 14, 2018.

phpBB [video]

phpBB [video]

Fallout Shelter - In a nice wrap up to the Fallout section, Fallout Shelter is announced to be coming to the Nintendo Switch and PS4...tonight...for free! No denying that Bethesda knows how to treat its fans.

The Elder Scrolls: Blades - A massive first-person RPG with console-quality graphics on a mobile device. The game features both hand-crafted and procedurally generated dungeons; with a combat set of melee and magic. Blades features 3 different modes: The Abyss - a roguelike mode to see how far you can get in the dungeon; Arena - as fighting mode against other players; and The Town - a story mode with town-building functionality. Totally cross-platform, coming this fall, all for free.

phpBB [video]

Starfield - Then, as if the last hour wasn't enough, Todd Howard dropped the bomb, that we'd finally be getting Starfield! Bethesda's new space IP. A massive single-player, next-gen experience.

phpBB [video]

The Elder Scrolls VI - And more.... The Elder Scrolls VI gets a (very brief) aerial trailer. No details, but a wild crowd.

To wrap up the Sunday was Devolver Digital. Not nearly as high-profile as Microsoft or Bethesda, but still got a pretty high viewership, despite its mixed reviews from last year's show.

Starting this up, we could see, it was more of the same antics from last year:

It started with some introductions from Nina Struthers and an address to last years response. She then goes on to announce the first game.

SCUM (Season 2) - We got to see a bit of in-engine footage of drones patrolling the land and a rather overweight contestant running through the woods before being brutally murdered by the aforementioned rules-enforcement robot. His corpse was then brought back to life as a zombie of sorts. We’ll be seeing SCUM to Steam Early Access in August of 2018.

phpBB [video]

After the trailer, Nina introduced the newest form of DD cryptocurrency - LootBoxCoin.

My Friend Pedro: Blood, Bullets, Bananas - Up next was My Friend Pedro. A violent, ballet game in which one man struggles to obliterate everything and anyone in his path at the behest of a sentient banana. It's scheduled to hit consoles in 2019 - including the Nintendo Switch.

phpBB [video]

Metal Wolf Chaos XD - Next up, after some more comedic antics, Metal Wolf Chaos was announced from From Software; with a release of later this year for PC, Xbox One and PS4. This game originally came out on Xbox in Japan in 2004.

Re: Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2018 - Jun. 12 - 14

Post by Round2Gaming » Mon Jun 11, 2018 4:54 pm

Another big day for E3! Monday started off early with the highly anticipated Square Enix E3 Showcase 2018. With major heavy hitters like Kingdom Hearts III, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Just Cause 4 all right around the corner, and the localization efforts for Dragon Quest XI covering the JRPG bases - it was looking promising. And there was, of course, the faint dream of more Final Fantasy VII Remake news.

So what actually happened? Here it is:

Yosuke Matsuda (President, Square Enix) greeted us in Japanese, and introduced the show, with a tease to stay tuned to the very end.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider - Then it went right into a new Shadow of the Tomb Raider trailer (courtesy of Keith David) - and reassured us that Lara Croft is indeed invincible. Daniel Chayer-Bisson (Senior Game Director, Eidos Montréal) then came onscreen to introduce some of the gameplay mechanics, including a heavy stealth mechanic.

phpBB [video]

Final Fantasy XIV - Stormblood - Keith David then took us into Final Fantasy XIV Online's "Stormblood", with the Under the Moonlight patch, and some new enemies and characters, including Palicoes from Monster Hunter.

phpBB [video]

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit - This was followed by another teaser of The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit. Michael Koch and Raoul Barbet from DONTNOD then announced that it would be the transition piece into Life Is Strange 2 and would be free on Jun. 2, 2018.

phpBB [video]

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age - A English trailer of Dragon Quest XI trailer then came on. It'll have some PS4 collector's editions - the Edition of Light (with some digital content), and Edition of Lost Time, with some tangible swag as well. This was followed by a brief announcement of the Brave Exvius x Dragon Quest.

phpBB [video]

Babylon's Fall - This immediately went into a brand new trailer for Platinum's new project, Babylon's Fall.

phpBB [video]

NieR: Automata (Become as Gods Edition) - Then a quick recap that NieR: Automata (Become as Gods Edition) is coming to Xbox on Jun. 26, 2018.

phpBB [video]

Octopath Traveler - A very quick trailer for Octopath Traveler followed, with a heavy emphasis on the Nintendo Switch, and a release date of Jul. 13, 2018.

phpBB [video]

Just Cause 4 - A trailer outlining some new mechanics of Just Cause 4, and some tornado antics. Improved combat, improved AI, and a strong claim that the draw distance will be unrivaled, thanks to the new Apex Engine.

phpBB [video]

The Quiet Man - We then got a little surprise with a live-action/CG mashup of one of their new IPs. First it looked like Parasite Eve, then it looked like Deus Ex - but turns out it was The Quiet Man. Looks like a brawler of sorts. Promising more to come in August.

phpBB [video]

Kingdom Hearts III - A bit of new content was shown in trailer form, with a release date of January 29, 2018 shown at the end. Mostly though, it's what we saw at the Microsoft presser.

phpBB [video]

And then the conference ended. A tight 30 minutes.

Re: Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2018 - Jun. 12 - 14

Next up was Ubisoft. The publisher suggested that at least six games would make an appearance at its E3 2018 press conference: Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, Beyond Good & Evil 2, For Honor, Skull & Bones, Starlink: Battle for Atlas and Transference. But it also teased some "huge reveals" so fans were pumped.

Here's what we got:

Just Dance 2019 - The show kicked off with a bit of an awkward opening with Kim Weigend and Justin Levy, but all was forgotten once the show got underway. Taking a page right out of Carnival, we had some of the most colorful and vibrant dancers and performers celebrate the (inevitable) release of their first game to songs like "Havana" and "Sugar". Just Dance 2019 is slated for an October release, and is presumably coming to literally everything.

phpBB [video]

Beyond Good & Evil 2 - We then got transitioned right into some Beyond Good & Evil 2. This was a brand new trailer with some familiar creature races and some new characters. And of course some familiar faces including Knox - but more surprisingly Pey'j and Jade! Then Guillaume Bruniere (Senior Producer, Ubisoft Montpellier) and Gabrielle Shrager (Narrative Director, Ubisoft Montpellier) came to the stage to show some pre-alpha gameplay in Ganesha City followed by a callout to fans to submit content (music, assets, etc..) which would be used in the game. In conjunction with Joseph-Gordon Levitt's 'HitRecord' initiative, he came out to help them entice the crowd and the fans. They've also announced BGE Fest taking place in Montpellier later this fall.

phpBB [video]

phpBB [video]

Rainbow Six: Siege - Justin Kruger (Community Developer, Ubisoft Montréal) came out to announce that Rainbow Six: Siege has a 35 million player-base and is growing even more. It's become one of the most played eSports games, and has 3 upcoming events: the Paris Major in August, the Pro League Finals in Brazil in November, and the next Invitational in February 2019. This was also coupled with the announcement of a full fledged documentary being released in August.

phpBB [video]

Trials Rising - Then a comedic, daredevil entrance from Antti Il Vessuo (Creative Director, Ubisoft Redlynx....and Prime Minister of Finland) who praised the Trials series and its following, and presented a trailer for Trials Rising. Rising is a collaboration between Ubisoft RedLynx and Ubisoft Kiev. Then Brad Hill "Professor Fat Shady" (YouTube Creator, University of Trials) came out to the stage to introduce some more development details and closed off with a closed beta announcement, and full release date of February 2019 for Xbox, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch.

phpBB [video]

Tom Clancy's The Division 2 - Julian Gerighty (Creative Director, Tom Clancy's The Division 2) came to the stage to give more details to the recently announced Division 2. This was highlighted by a graphic story trailer. He also announced that Raids are coming to Division 2, which garnered some big cheers from the crowd. He closed off with 3 episodic DLC packs will be available in the first year, all completely free. And a release date of March 15, 2019.

phpBB [video]

The fourth showing of the day was the PC Gaming Show. This one promised a lot of World Exclusives that were among the few that hadn't been leaked yet. What did they show, you ask?

Here's the breakdown:

Re: Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2018 - Jun. 12 - 14

The night was capped by one of the most anticipated shows of the week - the Sony Press Conference. They'd gone into this saying that they'd only show a small handful of titles, but have some surprises as well. It was a little deflating to some, but there was no denying the quality of the titles. But what were the surprises. And what exactly did we learn?

Find out right here:

The show started off with Shawn Layden gracing a...unique stage. A tent-style church in a much more personal setting than we've seen in previous years. The ambiance was nice, but the shaky cam and echoing audio weren't a good start.

The Last of Us: Part 2 - The show started off with a pretty intimate performance by Gustavo Santaolalla and his famous The Last Of Us piece. This was then followed by a very in-depth trailer for The Last of Us 2. Best to watch for yourself.

phpBB [video]

After the trailer, in-house viewers were asked to funnel out into an entirely different venue.

PlayStation VR - Then it went over to some quick VR trailer reel for 5 of PlayStations biggest VR titles - Tetris Effect, Days Gone, Twin Mirror, Ghost Giant, Beat Saber.

phpBB [video]

Destiny 2: Forsaken - Just before part 2 started, we saw a brand new trailer for Destiny 2: Forsaken coming out September 4, 2018.

phpBB [video]

Ghost of Tsushima - The new venue was a little more....stable. We were greeted by a shakuhachi-playing man. He did a little number, and this was followed by a new Ghost of Tsushima trailer.

phpBB [video]

Then we saw 4 more surprises before moving onto the next heavy-hitter, Death Stranding, each one buffered by a small sequence from Dreams.

Control - Then a new game from Remedy and 505 Games coming out in 2019 - Control.

phpBB [video]

Resident Evil 2 - Then a surprise reveals of the Resident Evil 2 remake.

phpBB [video]

Trover Saves the Universe - This was followed by a new game from the creators of Rick and Morty

phpBB [video]

Kingdom Heart's 3 - Then it went into a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3, with some details on the Pirates of the Caribbean world.

phpBB [video]

Death Stranding - We were treated to a big trailer with some gameplay footage and a whole lot more questions to be answered. Like when is the release date!?

phpBB [video]

Nioh 2 - Team Ninja's Nioh was next on the trailer roster.

phpBB [video]

Spider-Man - Then we got a pretty action-packed trailer of Spider-Man fighting some of his biggest foes including Electro, Rhino, Scorpion, Vulture and Mister Negative.

phpBB [video]

Deracine - The show ended, but following the show, there was 1 more VR announcement from From Software.

The last show leading up to E3 was, as usual, Nintendo. Like in the past years, they opted for a Nintendo Direct instead of a staged conference, followed by their famous "Treehouse" sessions afterward.

We knew going into this that a lot of focus would be on the new Super Smash Bros and some of their upcoming titles this year, as well as some other leaked news like Fortnite on the Switch. But hopes were high for Metroid Prime 4, the new Pokemon RPG and more Mario goodness.

Here's how it turned out:

Daemon X Machina - The show kicked off with a mech-style trailer with a really cool art aesthetic and some heavy metal BGM. This game was Daemon X Machina, coming in 2019.

phpBB [video]

Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna The Golden Country DLC - Next up was a Japanese trailer with some story for the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 DLC.

phpBB [video]

Let's Go Pikachu / Let's Go Eevee - Then Reggie Fils-Aime came on to chat about the success of the Nintendo Switch. He also recapped the 2 new Pokemon titles, Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee, and the associated Pokeball Plus accessory (with Mew). All of these will be available on November 16, 2018.

Super Mario Party - This was followed by a trailer for Super Mario Party on the Nintendo Switch. This uses some of the joycon and screen features in unique ways. This comes out October 5, 2018.

phpBB [video]

Fire Emblem: Three Houses - Following this was a new Fire Emblem trailer coming out Spring 2019.

phpBB [video]

Fortnite - This was immediately followed by the anticipated Fortnite trailer for the Nintendo Switch. Available....TODAY!

phpBB [video]

Overcooked 2 - Next up was Overcooked 2, released on Aug. 7, 2018.

phpBB [video]

Killer Queen Black - Then right into the multiplayer phenomenon, Killer Queen Black. This is out in 2018.

phpBB [video]

Hollow Knight - Next up, Hollow Knight. A sub-subterranean action adventure game available today on the eShop, and is packed with all the added content.

phpBB [video]

Octopath Traveler - New demo on June 14th coming the to Nintendo eShop.

phpBB [video]

Sizzle Reel - The show then went into a sizzle reel of some of the upcoming games for 2018. This included - Arena of Valor, MineCraft, Sushi Striker, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle - Donkey Kong Adventure, Just Dance 2019, Dragonball Fighterz, Splatoon 2 DLC, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Crash n'Sane trilogy, Ninjala, Carcasse, FIFA 19, ARK, Wasteland 2, Paladins, Fallout Shelter, Dark Souls, Wolfenstein 2 and many many more.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate - Next up, Super Smash Bros! Masahiro Sakurai came onscreen to share the updates, including an updated character roster trailer. Turns out, every fighter in history of any SSB is in this game, but the starting roster is just like the first game. They've also streamlined the unlocking paths. I could break it all down, but best to just watch this feature. Most importantly, the release date is December 7, 2018.
