This was my first time playing a Mass Effect game and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. Played it on PS3, male shep, Infiltrator class. I don't usually go the sniper rifle route in fps games but I really liked it in this one... and the Tactical Cloak skill was perfect for getting out of tight spots. If I still found myself in trouble I'd just bust out the Arc Projector to take care of business (seemed pretty overpowered to me). Once I got comfortable with the game I found the best team for me was with Samara and Tali.

Already playing ME3. Andromeda just arrived in the mail.

First time player.

Playing as FemShep.

Only 2 missions in, just got the Normandy.

It seems very in-depth. A lot of dialogue choices, a lot of customisation.
Didn't play Mass Effect but it is good that it lets you fill in the gaps.

I'm enjoying it. i haven't checked what's coming up for CC but I might just play this when I can ;)

Really enjoyed the podcast on this. It's so great to listen to people talk about something they really love.

No love for the Vanguard though...

When I played ME1 I accidentally was a Vanguard because I didn't know how to select the other classes. I hated it, sorry.

In a world where you have Biotics and the kind of Tech they have I just find no fantasy fulfillment in playing as just a regular person that specializes in weapons, personally.

Vanguards use a bunch of biotic abilities. Soldiers are weapon specialists.

I played as a Vanguard - that charge is one of my favorite abilities (since it goes through knee-high walls, etc.). The Shockwave is also great.

Glad you enjoyed the podcast, Pam - it was great getting to chat with everyone. I feel bad that P2 didn't get all the way through, but his enjoyment of us talking about how awesome some of the story beats were was really cool (I still think he needs to go through the rest).

Didn't know the Charge move was so versatile.

Adding to what I said earlier I tend to not want to be into the more "generic/archetypal classes" when it comes to fantasy/sci-fi/my imagination. So for like fantasy I do not like it when the only options are warrior/thief/archer/mage or in this game's instance since it's essentially a shooter type just being a front-line foot soldier type.

I've been wanting to replay Mass Effect: Andromeda though, and since in that game you can customize your character so much more I have been wanting to experiment with more of the Combat-type moves. Last time I was a more defensive sniper with 4 different kinds of sniper rifles depending on the need. When I replay it I sorta want to be a more offensive, kamikaze-like dude with more of the heavy weapons. But it comes back to just how much more you can customize your character in ME:A than the rest of the series. So I'm not going to be locked into just the 3-4 moves that Vanguard has had in the first trilogy.

Another fantastic podcast. Great guests. Loved how excited P2 was to hear all about the ME2 story lines he didn’t get too. And how excited P1 was once Riley mentioned that some character’s appearances were based off of real people. I don’t remember who the actor was that Musty mention Miranda was modeled after but as soon as I saw Miranda in game I knew I had seen her before in a movie or tv show. Great podcast.

Listening to this episode makes me want to replay ME2 & ME3. Mordin didn't survive my playthrough of ME2 so I never got to experience his big arc conclusion in ME3. I only found out that this was a thing recently and was reminded in this podcast about that. There are other things, but just wanted to point that out.

I'm conflicted, though, because I know that I cannot get my original save file and what I want to experience and re-experience will require at least 2 playthroughs of both ME2 and ME3. I'm at the very end of Wolfenstein II and then finally play Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrfice...and then I really wanna finish my playthroughs of Final Fantasy VII & Golden Sun: The Lost Age. And I've been itching to replay Final Fantasy IV but this time the original release on SNES. Plus I've been itching to replay Final Fantasy IX but I cannot decide if I want to play it this time through the newly released version on PS4 or iOS. Aaaaand I've been wanting to replay Mass Effect: Andromeda. Plus I eventually wanna play Pokemon Ultra Moon.

Then in 2018 there are gonna be new releases to look forward to.

And now you guys got me wondering how I'm gonna fit in replaying ME2 & ME3. Damn.

It was a blast to record - certainly easier when there's so much love for a game.

The actress is Yvonne Strahovski (of Chuck, Dexter, and The Handmaid's Tale fame):
