The World Revolves Around Mars - A Nintendo Switch Special Report
This episode we welcome Musty Hobbit to the Fandango. After we hose off the STC Pod stank from him we get down to buisness and talk some Final Fantasy 8, 15, and 9 might have earned a mention or two. Also, The MightyQDawg pays his #1Console debt, Beat My Score is still a work in progress, listener comments spawn more conversation about the Switch, and Vox can't get Blood Dragon in Japan. News covers Star Trek Discovery, Alien Covenant, NES classic shortage, and highlights from the Video Game Awards and PlayStation Experience. Thanks for listening everybody!
This episode we have on one of our favourite guests, Twitch the Retro Gamer Rantin’ for his 3rd appearance! Many tangents and derailments penetrated this episode including, our favourite foods of all time, what ever happened to those Steam boxes, and are we gamers in a bubble? (The answer is yes.) But we did stay on topic at times when we attempted to figure out what Fitgnat was talking about during a recent Google Hangout, shared our thoughts on the upcoming Nintendo Switch, Bethesda no longer issuing early review copies and Ram Vox gets a pop quiz in Canadian history! Listener comments, the CC game of the month, and more all here on Retro Fandango!
This episode we are joined by Curtiss from the YouTube GirlfriendVS to talk all about Tremors! That is five feature length films and one season of the television series! Like Michael Gross, we discuss it all from Kevin Bacon to Jamie Kennedy. Try and see if you can spot a Donald Trump cameo in this one!
Derek and Tony from the TWO Dorks join us for this 2nd take of episode 48! For the first time a technical error caused us to lose part of a recording, but thankfully our guests were able to stick around and we got a whole show in. We had a lot of fun hanging with the dorks and got some surprising answers to their favorite games of all time. We also tested their skills with some 90’s trivia, I go on forever about a game called The Long Dark, and Vox is getting a new thrift store in his neighborhood. News covers the Bulletstorm remaster, Netfilx is getting more original content, Japan is getting a Famicom mini, the Star Wars follow up to Force Awakens will have a Empire Strikes Back tone, and Duke Nukem is back again. We get to the listener comments, the Cartridge Club game of the month, and more all in this episode of Retro Fandango!
Vox and I “pea pod” this episode as we celebrate two years of Fandango filling your ear holes. We might have not have had a guest but the community presence is still strong as we answer your questions and read listener comments from the forums. Vox and I shred away during a guitar off, comment on Curtiss’ #1Console debt “payment”, and we pay tribute to Gene Wilder and comedic actors of the like from that generation. Vox wraps up the PacMan #BeatMyScore challenge and announces the next game; and Mars “lets the cat out of the bag” on the source of some clips for the show’s opening. CC game of the month and more all here in episode 47 of Retro Fandango!
Melissa (MrsQDawg), our #1ConsoleQueen, joins us for the return of Ram Vox! After a short hiatus Vox is back to fill us in on his short trip to the US, his in flight eating habits, and a collection update that will surprise most. Melissa chooses her #1ConsoleQueen theme song, the Mars "cosplay" is reviewed, and we read some listener comments. For news, Nintendo hops in bed with Apple, console makers will be asking you to buy again what you already paid for, Interplay's IP is up for grabs, and Nier Automata is coming to the PC! The CC game of the month, beat my score, and more is all discuss right here on Retro Fandango!
When Vox and I started Retro Fandango the one show we received the most influence from is Vintage Video Game Geek's and NESComplex's podcast, Retro Rejects. It was a goal of ours to get these guys on as guests from day one or at least to “get good” enough to ask them to be on. It appeared that goal would never be met when their show ended officially in December 2015. So, we were floored when vintage hinted at coming on Retro Fandango to reunite with Chris for the first time since December. We later got confirmation (you can never be 100% sure with vintage, lol) and Vox and I got to work. Sadly, Ram Vox could not join us for the recording due to a family emergency but Duke from Retro Nonsense stepped in as a wonderful co-host. I'm not even going to tell you what we talked about here. I'll leave that all as a surprise (OK, most of it was Star Trek) but I think it is safe to say if you're a fan of the Retro Rejects, you're going to get a kick out of this episode. vintage and Chris were in top form like they had never left and are will be welcomed back anytime they wish to be on. Thanks to vintage, Chris, Duke, all those who sent in audio questions, and of course to Mr. Vox for making this happen. This episode will live in my memory for years to come as a high highlight experience with my online community friends.
Yes, this will be the last Retro Fandango on the Cartridge Club feed, and in true Fandango fashion we leave behind a giant 3hr 40 minute stain! We probably won't be getting our rent deposit back. But this is what happens when you give us almost a month off!
Our guest, Chris Roberts from the NARC podcast joins us to discuss purging collections, an Atari 5200 holding a water pipe for 30 years, The Killing Joke, and we test him with some Contra trivia. Ram Vox watches some Dirty Harry which starts a Dirty Harry vs Mad Max war, and tries a Call of Duty game. BuriedOnMars adds a PS4 to his collection and gives the newest Ratchet and Clank game the praise it deserves; And is confronted by his niece and nephew for his Ghostbusters hate. We talk a deep look at what exactly a fanboy is and trash talk our way through the Beat My Score discussion. News covers the Shovel Knight hitting Japan, the NES Classic, Nintendo NX rumors, and how horrible modern day Activision can be. The Cartridge Club game of the month Shovel Knight, last month's gane Majora's Mask and more all in this episode of RETRO FANDANGO!
Retro Fandango welcomes back Chris aka Nintendo Hodge to chat about the upcoming Barrie Game Exchange! Vox is sick again, but that doesn't stop the Fandango train from chuggin'! This month we get hot and steamy while talking about the benefits of drinking ice water, we get a Barrie Game Exchange exclusive, highlight some great episodes of the Twilight Zone, introduce the new Beat My Score challenge, and talk strategies for the Cartridge Club game of the month Majora's Mask! Oh yeah, and there was something about a cosplay thing and a #1Console challenge. Or whatever. Get it all right here! Delivered Lazily, unorganized, hot, and steamy!
Retro Fandango takes clubbers beyond the game of the month. Hosts Kevin (Buried on Mars) and Richard (Ram Vox) get together twice every month to discuss games, film, television, music, comic books and more. It's a community driven podcast where guests are given the freedom to choose the main topics and have their voices heard. And ANYONE can be a guest.
